Personal Bio

Dr. Matthew Spence grew up outside Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate studies in Genetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by his medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. His passion for pediatric care led him to New York, where he completed pediatric residency and chief residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore before completing his fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons/NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Dr. Spence is dedicated to improving the outcomes of critically ill children and the experience of pediatric critical illness for children and families. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, being outside around the lakes of Minneapolis, and traveling near and far.
