Dr. Scherrer grew up in southeastern Virginia and graduated with a high honors degree in chemistry from the College of William and Mary. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital in Madison. After practicing as a general pediatrician in Madison for several years, she completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at UW-Madison as well. Prior to joining CRCCS in 2009, she served as medical director of the PICU in St. Cloud, MN, for three years. Subsequently, she joined the division of pediatric critical care medicine at the University of Virginia, where she served as medical director of the pediatric sedation service. Dr. Scherrer is board certified in general pediatrics and in pediatric critical care medicine.
In addition to pediatric intensive care, Dr. Scherrer has a particular interest in pediatric procedural sedation. She is on the executive board of directors of the Society for Pediatric Sedation, and she is actively involved in the development of sedation provider education programs and materials. She also enjoys participating in medical education, and she continues to serve as a volunteer adjunct professor at UVA. Trish and her husband live in St. Cloud, where they are in the process of restoring a home originally built in 1903. |
