Dr. Tarrago was born in Mexico City, Mexico and moved to California when he was six years old.  He graduated from Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo University with a degree in biochemistry.  He completed medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Dr. Tarrago completed his pediatric critical care fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh where he performed research in organ regeneration during pediatric critical illness.

Dr. Tarrago is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in pediatrics and pediatric critical care.  He has special interests in pediatric organ failure, organ regeneration and medical education.  He is also actively involved in Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota's transition to an electronic medical record.

Dr, Tarrago is married to Dr. Sonja Tarrago, a general pediatrician.  They live in Woodbury with their two sons, Braden and Ian.  Dr. Tarrago enjoys mountain biking, soccer, and tennis.
